Corylus avellana L. in bloom, the South Downs Way on a wet grey day

Observed on a very cold, grey and wet afternoon's walk on the South Downs Way starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, via the Sussex Border Path to Chalton and back via the Staunton Way. Camera did not want to take any photos without the flash on, which has rather bleached out the delicate green of the buds.
